Vol. 7 No. 16

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFIT.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state whether Laurence Mooney, Unemployment Book No. 2224, Droichead Nua Office, has his cards fully stamped for the last three years, and, if so, if he will state on what grounds he has been refused benefit.

I find that the book No. 2224 does not relate to a man named Laurence Mooney, but a man of that name to whom it is thought that the Deputy's question refers made a claim to unemployment benefit at Droichead Nua on the 13th May last. It has not been possible to pay benefit because he is disqualified under Sub-section 4 of Section 8 of the Unemployment Insurance Act, 1920, no contribution having been paid for him in the 1922-23 insurance year. The disqualification will last until 12 contributions have been paid for the claimant, exclusive of those paid prior to the 1922-23 insurance year.
