Vol. 7 No. 21

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. [ORAL ANSWERS.] - DAMAGE TO BOAT AT SCHULL.

asked the Minister for Finance whether a claim has been received from Mr. W. Cadogan, Schull, Co. Cork, for a sum of £2,360 16s. 0d. in respect of damage to and looting of his boat, seized in Schull Harbour by the British authorities on June 22nd, 1921; whether the claim has yet been investigated and, if not, whether it is a case for investigation by the proposed War Compensation Court.

The claim referred to by the Deputy has been lodged with the Compensation (Ireland) Commission, which body has ruled upon it as outside the scope of their Terms of Reference. Until the Terms of Reference of the proposed War Compensation Court or similar body have been decided, the Deputy will understand that it is impossible to state definitely now what the position of the claim in question will be.
