Vol. 7 No. 25

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - OFFICERS' PAY.

SEAN O LAIDHIN

asked the Minister for Defence if a decision has yet been arrived at in the cases of officers who were only in receipt of £1 4s. 6d. per week instead of the rate of pay applicable to their rank during the period of their service in the National Army, and if he can state when these men may expect payment of arrears.

Each particular case of the type to which the Deputy refers must be considered on its merits. In most of these cases the promotions which were carried out were unauthorised and irregular, and could not be approved. Where it can be clearly shown that the applicant is entitled to arrears of pay the claim is disposed of as quickly as possible.
