Vol. 7 No. 27

CEISTEANNA.—QUESTIONS. [ORAL ANSWERS.] - CARLOW ROAD FOREMAN'S ARREST.

EAMON O DUBHGHAILL

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that Thomas Kelly, Bennekerry, a road foreman employed by the Carlow County Council, was arrested and detained without charge or trial from 31st July, 1922, to 19th November, 1923; and whether it is intended to compensate Kelly for loss of wages occasioned by his arrest and detention.

Mr. Kelly was arrested and detained as stated, on the ground of his having aided and abetted persons engaged in armed rebellion. It is not intended to compensate him as suggested by the Deputy.
