Vol. 8 No. 15

MATRIMONIAL MATTERS IN THE SAORSTAT.

Report of the Joint Committee on Standing Orders (Private Business) on the position in Saorstát Eireann of Bills relating to Matrimonial Matters.

O's rud gur thiolaiceadh air tuarasgabháil so dó'n Dáil cómh deidheanach san, tairghim go gcuirfí ar ath ló go dti Mi Dcireadh Foghmhair é.

The Joint Committee have made a very careful study of the subject matter of this Report and have set out its different aspects as fully as they could. As the Report has been presented to the Dáil so late in the Session, I feel that it would not be fair to ask for a speedy decision upon the grave matters referred to in it. I would prefer that the decision should be left over till October so that during the Recess members might have an opportunity of weighing the Report fully and of arriving at a considered judgment. I beg to move, therefore, that the consideration of the Report be postponed till October.

I think if the consideration of the Report be postponed, and if I were allowed to consult with the Chairman of the Joint Committee as to the date after the Recess for the consideration of the Report, that would meet the situation.

Agreed.
