Vol. 8 No. 15

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - OLD AGE PENSION CLAIM.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state on what grounds the old age pension granted by the Kilmacthomas Sub-Committee to John Hurley, Cutteen, Kilrossanty, Co. Waterford, was disallowed.

This claim was disallowed on the ground of insufficient evidence of age. An opportunity was afforded the claimant to submit more definite or conclusive evidence than was furnished in the first instance, but as satisfactory proof was not forthcoming the claim was disallowed on the 15th April last. No birth or baptismal certificate was produced. The claimant was recorded as of full age when married on the 16th February, 1885. Affidavits by two neighbours were submitted, but no detailed reasons were given in them for the statements made, and they could not, therefore, be accepted in support of the claim.
