Vol. 8 No. 17

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - ARMY MECHANIC'S PAY.

asked the Minister for Defence whether Private Patrick Fagan, Number 56294, A.C.E., of 39 Peter's Lane, Waterford, joined the National Army as a mechanic fifteen months ago and was in receipt of £2 2s. 0d. per week; whether he reenlisted five months ago on the understanding that he was to receive the same rate of pay, and whether he has only received 9s. 6d. per week for that period, and whether other mechanics are receiving 3s. per day; and if he will have this case investigated and this man awarded his proper pay.

From the date of his reattestation Private Fagan has received the rate of pay to which he is entitled —namely, 6s. per day. This is made up of 3s. per day ordinary pay, and 3s. per day additional pay, in respect of his being a mechanic.
