Vol. 9 No. 7

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - CO. WATERFORD O.A.P. CLAIM.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is aware that the Local Sub-Committee granted an old age pension to Ellen Burke, Graignagower, Ballymacarbery, Co. Waterford; if he will state on what grounds the old age pension was disallowed, and, further, if he will reconsider his decision in this case.

Two claims in this case were disallowed on means into which a local investigation was made in August, 1923.

A third appeal has recently been received and is at present under consideration. It appears that the claimant is maintained in the home of her nephew. The farm is 50 acres in extent —valuation £36, rent £41 7s. It has, however, been represented that the circumstances in this case are not normal for a holding of the size, and I have consequently deputed another Inspector to reinvestigate the means. On the receipt of his report a decision will be given without delay.
