Vol. 9 No. 8

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - TUBBERCLAIR ARRESTS.

SEAN O LAIDHIN

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state why Messrs. Patrick Murphy and eight others, all residing at Macknagh, Tubberclair, were arrested on October 18th, 1924; whether these men are still detained, without any charge having been preferred against them, and whether he proposes to order their release or put them on trial.

The men to whom the Deputy refers were interned on strong suspicion of being implicated in an armed raid on the house of William Murphy, Macknagh, Glasson, Athlone. If these men will enter into recognizances, themselves in the sum of £100 with two solvent sureties of £50 each, conditioned to keep the peace towards all citizens, and particularly towards William Murphy, for a period of two years from the dates of such recognizances, I will order their discharge from custody.
