Vol. 9 No. 26

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - DONEGAL CIRCUIT COURT.

asked the Minister for Justice whether the next Circuit Court for South Donegal is to be held at Lifford; whether he is aware that this arrangement will involve considerable inconvenience and expense on jurors and litigants, in some cases a journey of upwards of one hundred miles, and whether he will consider the holding of the Circuit Court for South Donegal at Ballyshannon pending the re-building of Donegal Courthouse.

So far as I am aware, the Hilary Sittings of the Circuit Court in Donegal have not yet been definitely settled, but pending the completion of the Rules of the Circuit Court and their approval by the Oireachtas, the Circuit Court is sitting only at the places where the County Court formerly sat, and, I understand, that the County Court did not sit at Ballyshannon in recent years, so that it is probably not intended to sit there for the present. I am, however, forwarding to the Judge, for his consideration, a copy of the Deputy's question, and if the Judge should decide to make an exception in this case, I shall certainly have no objection.

I hope the Minister will not forget the claims of Buncrana and Carndonagh.

I hope not.
