Vol. 9 No. 26

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - LAND COMMISSION INSPECTORS.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture whether he can state how many assistant inspectors formerly employed by the Congested Districts Board have been promoted to the rank of inspector since the Board was amalgamated with the Irish Land Commission, and how many promotions to the rank of inspector have been made altogether since amalgamation, and whether any of the persons so appointed had less service than the Congested Districts Board assistant inspectors.

Since the dissolution of the Congested Districts Board and the transfer of its staff, etc., to the Land Commission, none of the officials designated assistant inspectors by the Board have been promoted. Four Land Commission assistant inspectors have been promoted to the grade of inspector.

In reply to the last portion of the question, none of the latter officers had less service than the (late) Board's assistant inspectors.

Can the Minister tell me whether temporary inspectors now being appointed by the Land Commission come in over the heads of those Congested Districts Board assistant inspectors who have a dozen years' service?

That question had better be addressed to the Minister for Lands and Agriculture, who is at present in the Seanad.
