Vol. 9 No. 26

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - BALLINASLOE WORKHOUSE.

asked the Minister for Finance if the Government is at present paying the Galway County Council for the occupation of the Ballinasloe Workhouse by National Army troops; and if he can state who is at present responsible for the upkeep and repairs of the building, which is in a somewhat dilapidated condition, with broken windows and doors, presenting an unsightly appearance in a prominent position by the roadway leading to the railway station.

I am having enquiries made in this case, and will communicate with the Deputy in due course.

asked the Minister for Finance if he can state whether the British Government has paid the Local Authority in the County Galway for the occupation of the Ballinasloe Workhouse by its military forces up to the time of the Treaty, and for the damage caused during that occupation, as well as the expenses incurred by the Guardians for the transfer of inmates and other necessary changes.

I am having enquiries made in this case, and will communicate with the Deputy in due course.
