Vol. 9 No. 27

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - DAMAGE TO GLANDORE HOUSE.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the reason for the delay in settling the claim of Patrick Hurley, Glandore, County Cork, for damage to his house by British Forces in 1920, and if an early settlement will be made.

No award in favour of the person named by the Deputy has yet been received from the Compensation (Ireland) Commission, and it is therefore impossible to promise early settlement. I understand that the claim is at present being investigated by the Commission.

Is the Minister aware of the fact that several claims arising out of the very same occurrence have been settled very many months ago, and awards made to people in the same village?

I am not aware of that.

Would the Minister kindly convey that to the Compensation Commission in order to hurry them on? Because it is extraordinary that a very large number of claims arising out of the same occurrence and in the same village was settled seven or eight months ago.
