Vol. 10 No. 2

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - CLAIM AGAINST ARMY.

asked the Minister for Defence whether his attention has been called by the Sligo Chamber of Commerce to a large number of accounts contracted on behalf of the Military Authorities in 1922 and 1923, which have not yet been paid; whether any investigation into these accounts has been made, and whether he can state when they are likely to be settled.

My attention has been called by the Sligo Chamber of Commerce to thirteen accounts which they forwarded through the Deputy. On receipt of these accounts three officers of the Department of Defence immediately— early in December last—proceeded to Sligo to investigate them. As a result settlement has been effected in all cases found to be duly vouched and properly payable from Army funds. I am sending the Deputy a statement setting out the position in each case.
