Vol. 10 No. 8

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - THIRD-CLASS SEASON TICKETS.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that the Great Southern and Western Railway Company refuses to grant season tickets to third-class passengers on that system, although such tickets are available to first and second-classes, and, in the case of other of the amalgamated companies, to all classes; and if, in view of the fact that third-class fares make up the great bulk of the revenue derived from passenger traffic, he will make representations to the Company in question as to the desirability of granting like facilities to all classes proportionately.

I am informed that the question of issuing third-class season tickets on the Great Southern and Western Section of the Great Southern Railway has been under consideration since the recent amalgamation, but owing to the pressure of work arising out of reorganisation, the management are not yet in a position to decide the matter.
