Vol. 10 No. 9

CEISTEANNA.—QUESTIONS. - UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE BENEFIT (LEIX).

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if application for Unemployment Insurance Benefit has been made by John and William Dunphy, Whitepark, Rathdowney, Leix; if he can state how many times each has signed at the local Labour Exchange; what, if any, amount has been paid in benefit in each case, and whether the individuals concerned are entitled to benefit under the Acts.

A claimant who gave his name as John Dunphy and his address as Whitepark, Rathdowney, lodged a claim to Special Benefit under Section 3 of the Unemployment Insurance (No. 2) Act, 1924, at Rathdowney Local Office on the 5th February, 1925. The claimant signed the Unemployed Register only on the date of his claim and no benefit was paid or payable on his claim. A claimant who gave his name as William Dunphy and his address as Whitepark, Rathdowney, lodged a claim to Special Benefit under Section 3 of the Unemployment Insurance (No. 2) Act, 1924, on the 20th January, 1925, on which claim he was paid 11 days' Special Benefit at the rate of 2/6 per day in respect of unemployment proved on the claim in the prescribed manner from the 20th January, 1925, to the 7th February, 1925.

William Dunphy is eligible for the receipt of Special Benefit but the question whether he satisfies the conditions under which benefit is paid is being examined in the light of fresh facts recently reported to the Department.
