Vol. 10 No. 16

CEISTEANNA.—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - CLAIM FOR COMPENSATION—CASE OF JAMES DOYLE.

TOMAS MAC EOIN

asked the Minister for Defence whether his attention has been drawn to the case of James Doyle, who sustained the loss of a thumb as a result of an accident arising out of and in the course of his duties as Army butcher in Collins Barracks on 15th January, 1924, but who, being a soldier, is debarred from claiming compensation under the Workmen's Compensation Acts, and whether it is proposed to make provision for compensation in such cases by amendment of the Army Pensions Act, 1923, or otherwise.

My attention has been drawn to Mr. Doyle's case, which does not come within the provisions of the Army Pensions Act, 1923. I am, however, at considering proposals for dealing with this and similar cases.
