Vol. 10 No. 17

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - DRAINAGE IN THE SAORSTAT.

asked the Minister for Finance if, having regard to the promise given by him in November, 1924, it is now intended to introduce legislation to deal with drainage in the Saorstát, and, if so, when such legislation may be expected; whether he is aware that in order to put such legislation into operation this year, its introduction forthwith will be necessary.

The drafting of the Bill is in its final stage, and it is hoped to introduce the measure at an early date.

What does the Minister mean by an early date? Will he define it and make it a little clearer? Does he mean before Easter, Summer, or Christmas next?

I certainly mean before Christmas, at any rate.

Does the Minister mean before the Easter Recess or the Summer Recess?

I certainly mean before the Summer Recess. I could not say that the measure would be introduced before the Easter Recess.
