Vol. 11 No. 8

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFIT (GORT).

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether an application for unemployment benefit had been received from Mr. Joseph Glynn, Book No. Gort 71, and if he will state what action had been taken or is intended to be taken as a result of this application.

A claim to unemployment benefit lodged by Joseph Glynn, of Gort, on the 19th January, 1925, was disallowed under Section 8 (2) of the Unemployment Insurance Act, 1920, for a period of six weeks on the statutory ground that he had lost his employment by reason of unsatisfactory conduct. He has appealed to the Court of Referees against that decision and his case will be heard on the 7th instant. Any benefit to which he has become entitled since the date of the expiration of the period of disqualification will be paid to him next Friday, and should the decision on his appeal be in his favour he will, of course, be paid in respect of the disqualification period.
