Vol. 11 No. 11

DÁIL IN COMMITTEE. - BUSINESS OF THE DAIL.

I think it is too late now to take the Committee Stage of the Fisheries Bill. I expect I would find general agreement in the House for that.

In moving the adjournment until next Tuesday at 3 o'clock I would like to inform the Dáil that we intend to take Estimates for the Ministry of Education. In support of that, I would like to state that the Minister has to leave town early on Wednesday in order to take part in the Boundary Commission. The Estimates would include: 41 (Office of the Minister for Education); 42 (Primary Education); 43 (Secondary Education); 44 (Technical Instruction); 45 (Science and Art); 46 (Reformatory and Industrial Schools); 47 (National Gallery); and 28 (Universities and Colleges). I propose, if the Dáil agrees, that we should sit late on Tuesday evening in the hope of finishing those Estimates. Even if they were not finished then it might be possible to get the remainder taken some other day. I suggest we should take Estimates on Tuesday and Wednesday, and whatever legislative business is down for Tuesday I propose to take it on Thursday. I take it the House will accommodate me in that respect?

The Dáil agreed.

I presume the amendments to the Shannon Bill will have to be in on Wednesday morning?

Yes, by Wednesday morning next.

The Dáil adjourned at 4.40 p.m. until Tuesday, May 12th, at 3 o'clock.
