Vol. 11 No. 12

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - CONDITION OF CLONFREE SCHOOL.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he has received several communications, either directly or through the Department of Education, from the Very Rev. Dean Gearty, P.P., Strokestown, Manager of the Clonfree Boys' School, Co. Roscommon, calling attention to the dilapidated condition of this school as evidenced by the School Inspector's reports, and asking that a grant be made for repairing and enlarging the building, and whether he can explain the reason for the delay in dealing with this application, and the failure, as alleged, to acknowledge the communications referred to.

A claim under the Indemnity Act, 1924, was received some time ago from the Manager of the school referred to by the Deputy, and acknowledged. There is no record of the receipt of any further communications on the subject. The claim has been referred to the Committee appointed under the Act and will be considered in due course.
