Vol. 11 No. 16

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - ACQUISITION OF TIPPERARY LANDS.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture if he will state what lands have been acquired in Co. Tipperary for the purpose of division under the Land Act, 1923, and what lands are the subject of negotiations for the same purpose in the county.

The Land Commission have purchased under the Land Act, 1923, 2,041 acres of untenanted land in County Tipperary, and in addition have agreed to purchase or have fixed a price in respect of 5,662 acres, and negotiations are proceeding in respect of 44,645 acres in that county.

That is not an answer to my question. I asked what lands had been acquired, not what amount of lands or acreage had been acquired. The intention is to get definite information as to what exact estates have been acquired, or are in process of being acquired.

I think it is a reasonable interpretation from the terms of the question that acreage was what was aimed at and not particulars as to definite estates. As to the Deputy's explanation, if he puts down a question for another day it will be answered, I feel sure.
