Vol. 11 No. 16

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - VESTING OF CLAREMORRIS LANDS.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture if he will state the cause of delay in vesting the holding of land held by Mr. John Dunne, Moonard, Claremorris, Co. Mayo (Lynch-Blosse Estate) for which he signed a purchase agreement several years ago, and whether a refund, or credit, will be given to Mr. Dunne for payments made in excess of his annuity, amounting to 18/6 per annum for the past thirteen years.

This case has been dealt with in its due order, and it is anticipated that the vesting of the holding referred to will take place at an early date.

In his Purchase Agreement Dunne contracted to pay to the Irish Land Commission, pending the vesting of the lands and the making of the advance applied for, interest at the rate of 3½ per cent. on the purchase money, and no refund can be made.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture whether he is aware that Michael Gibbons and four other tenants in the townland of Kilnagower, Claremorris, Co. Mayo (Lynch-Blosse Estate) which the Congested Districts Board purchased 16 years ago, signed purchase agreements five years ago in respect of their holdings; that their holdings are not yet vested, and that they are still paying interest in lieu of rent, which amounts to £5 per annum more than their annuities would be if such lands were vested; and if he will state what steps, if any, are being taken by the Land Commission to have those lands vested.

Mr. HOGAN

These cases have been dealt with in their order, and it is anticipated that the vesting of the holdings referred to will take place at an early date. In their purchase agreements the tenants contracted to pay interest at 3½ per cent. pending the vesting of their holdings, and no refund can be made.
