Vol. 12 No. 11

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. (ORAL ANSWERS.) - NATIONAL HEALTH INSURANCE CONTROL FUND.

TOMAS MAC EOIN

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if the Insurance Commissioners have, under Section 15 of the National Health Insurance Act, 1923, established the National Health Insurance Central Fund; if so, if he will state the total amount carried to that Fund from the Central Fund established under the control of the Joint Committee, and if the total amount carried into the Fund represents the sum which on apportionment was found to be attributable to Saorstát Eireann, and, further, if he can say the total amount now to credit of the National Health Insurance Central Fund.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. The answer to the second part is securities, the cost price of which was £55,922 13s. 11d. The amount in the Central Fund at the time of apportionment did not include (1) the sums to be transferred to that fund in respect of the contributions of insured persons for the year 1920 — the last year in which such sums had to be so transferred; or (2) the portion of the unclaimed balance in the Stamps Sold Account to be carried to the fund under Section 29 of the National Health Insurance Act, 1918. Arrangements have been made for adjustments in respect of these two items.

The total amount now to credit of the National Health Insurance Central Fund is—

Securities, the cost price of which was £65,951 17s. 3d., and £1 14s. 9d. uninvested cash.
