Vol. 12 No. 14

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - CO. TIPPERARY COMPENSATION CLAIMS.

asked the Minister for Finance if a claim for compensation by Thomas Ryall, of Barona, Clonmel, Co. Tipperary, was heard at Clonmel on December 18th, 1923, for losses sustained owing to the seizure of cattle by Irregulars; if a report for £56 was made by the Judge; whether the amount of the report has yet been paid to Mr. Ryall, and, if not, whether he will have payment of same expedited.

Payment of £50 with the costs and expenses recommended by the Judge will be made in this case at an early date. The reduction of £6 represents the amount recommended by the Judge in respect of sheep alleged to have been commandeered in October, 1921; I am advised that this loss could not properly be made the subject of a Report under Section 15 of the Damage to Property (Compensation) Act, 1923. I will, however, refer this portion of the claim to the Committee established under the Indemnity Act, for consideration.

asked the Minister for Finance if a claim for compensation for loss sustained owing to the seizure of a bullock by Irregulars in February, 1922, was made by Edward Spearman, of Graigue, Poulamucka, Clonmel; if this claim was heard at Clonmel on December 18th, 1923; if a report for £10 was made by the Judge; if the amount of this report has yet been paid, and, if not, whether payment of the amount reported will be expedited.

I am advised that the loss in this case could not properly be made the subject of a Report under Section 15 of the Damage to Property (Compensation) Act, 1923, and no payment will therefore be made on the Judge's recommendation. The claim has, however, been referred to the Committee established under the Indemnity Act, for consideration.
