Vol. 12 No. 16

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - REMOVAL OF STONE AND GRAVEL FROM GREYSTONES FORESHORE.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether his attention has been directed to the removal of stone and gravel by the local authority from the North foreshore at Greystones, County Wicklow, thereby depriving a number of cottages belonging to fishermen and others of a necessary protection from storms; further, if he is aware that during a storm which occurred some months ago a portion of the roadway in front of these cottages was washed away and so far it has not been restored; whether in view of these circumstances he will take steps to stop the further removal of this necessary protection and see that the damage referred to is repaired without delay.

This question might more appropriately have been addressed to the Minister for Industry and Commerce. I will, however, make inquiries from the Wicklow County Council as to the propriety of using the material referred to, and the representations made by the Deputy will be brought to the notice of the Minister for Industry and Commerce.

This question was sometime before the Minister, so that he has had, I think, sufficient time to get the information asked for.
