CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - SOUTHERN RAILWAYS EMPLOYEES.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if, in view of the complaints of employees of the Southern Railways Company as to dismissals on the grounds of redundancy, any steps have been taken to carry out the provisions of paragraph (8) of the Third Schedule of the Railways Act of 1924.

The Chief Justice has appointed Mr. Arthur C. Meredith, K.C., 25 Upper Mount Street, Dublin, to be a standing arbitrator to hear and determine appeals provided for by Clause 8 of the Third Schedule to the Railways Act, 1924.

This appointment was gazetted in the Iris Oifigiúil of 25th September, and Mr. Meredith has settled the procedure and also the form of claim. These were published in the Irish Law Times of 12th September.
