CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - BURNING OF ELTON R.I.C. BARRACKS.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state what was the amount of compensation granted Major Steward C. Webb for losses sustained owing to the burning of the Elton R.I.C. Barrack, Co. Limerick; if any portion of the award was subject to a reinstatement clause, and, if so, what was the amount of the award reserved for this purpose.

The amount of compensation awarded by the Compensation (Ireland) Commission in this case was £860, with interest at 5 per cent. from 31st May, 1920, and £78 10s. costs, and, as no portion of the award was subject to a reinstatement condition, the award was duly discharged by the issue of a paying order for £1,045 6s. 5d. to Major Webb's solicitors on 2nd October, 1923.
