CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - THE MARTYN ESTATE, CO. GALWAY.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture whether any steps have been taken by the Land Commission to acquire the lands known as the Martyn Estate, situated at Lisduff, Dunmore, Co. Galway, at present being used for grazing purposes, with a view to relieving the congestion so prevalent in the area, and, if so, if he will state how the matter stands.

Mr. HOGAN

The Land Commission have taken steps with a view to the acquisition of lands situate in the townland of Lisduff, on the estate of John Martyn, County Galway, and are negotiating with the owner in regard to the matter.

Mr. O'CONNELL

Can the Minister say how soon the land will be available?

Mr. HOGAN

The lands are gazetted and unless there is an objection to some of them they should be acquired by the Land Commission within three months.
