Vol. 13 No. 12

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - SUBSCRIBERS TO DAIL LOAN.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is in a position to state when a list of the subscribers to the Dáil Loan (Internal of 1919) will be available and when and in what manner repayment will be made.

A register of subscribers to the first Dáil Loan (Internal) is being prepared in accordance with the provisions of the Dáil Eireann Loans and Funds Act, 1924, and it is hoped to have same completed at an early date. The answer to the second part of the Deputy's question is that every subscriber to the Loan whose name is entered on the Register prepared under the Act referred to will receive through the Post Office a Savings Certificate which shall entitle the holder thereof to be paid on the 1st June, 1927, the sum of 28s. for every pound subscribed.

Will the Minister extend the time for subscribers to the Dáil Eireann Loan whose names appear on the official list, but who did not make application, and also those who had official receipts and did not make application, as in some remote parts of the country people did not see the advertisement in the papers?

It is desirable that persons who have receipts should apply, because their names may not be recorded on our books, but in case we have their names and particulars they will not suffer by not applying.

In case they are not registered, will they be considered?

Yes, we will consider them at any time.

What is the position of people who subscribed and who have no official receipts, but who can prove they did subscribe?

They can send in applications, and if we have their names on our register it will be communicated to them that their position is all right. If we have not their names we will have to investigate the cases as best we can.
