Vol. 13 No. 19

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - LISTOWEL MERCHANT'S CLAIM.

SEAMUS O CRUADHLAOICH

asked the Minister for Defence if any steps have been taken to investigate the case of Mr. James Buckley, The Square, Listowel, who supplied a large quantity of food, drink and tobacco to the value of £26 1s. to National soldiers during the years 1922-1923, and if he is aware that the Office of Public Works referred the matter to his Department on April 28th, 1924.

Mr. Buckley's claim for £26 1s. 0d. was referred to my Department by the Office of Public Works on the 28th April, 1924. As accounts amounting to £31 19s. 6d. in respect of billeting of troops had previously been furnished and discharged it was assumed that the claim for £26 1s. 0d. had been included therein, and Mr. Buckley was communicated with on that assumption. In his reply he did not indicate that any other account was outstanding, but he is now being asked for further information.
