Vol. 14 No. 4

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - CONTROL OF VETERINARY BRANCH.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture whether there is a qualified Veterinary Surgeon in charge of the Veterinary Branch of the Department of Lands and Agriculture, or whether it is, as is alleged, in the hands of Civil Service clerks.

The Department's Chief Adviser on veterinary matters is a fully qualified Veterinary Surgeon, whose professional advice is not overruled by Civil Service Clerks. In administrative matters connected with the Department's veterinary work, as in other sections of the Department's operations, the decision rests with the Higher Administrative Officers of the Department, subject, of course, if necessary, to the final decision of the Minister for Lands and Agriculture.
