Vol. 14 No. 4

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - UNTENANTED LANDS IN CO. CORK

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture whether the Land Commission proposes to acquire the untenanted lands of T.H. Bryan, Prospect Hill, Dunmanway, Co. Cork, the owner of which has resided in America for over thirty years, and whether, in view of the very small amount of land available for distribution in West Cork, he will take steps to have the lands acquired at an early date.

The lands of Tonafora, containing 69a. Or. 22p., on this estate were included in a Provisional List of lands which will, if not excluded in consequence of a valid objection, become vested in the Land Commission on the "Appointed Day." This Provisional List was published in "Iris Oifigiúil" on the 26th ultimo.

Is the Minister aware that the present man has sublet the land at an exorbitant price to landless men?

I could not answer that question.
