Vol. 14 No. 4

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - TRANSPORT OF LIVE STOCK FROM CARLOW AND ATHY.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture whether he is aware that cattle and sheep sent from Carlow and Athy have to be forwarded on Tuesday in order to reach Cabra in time for Dublin market on Thursday; that on this account a good deal of additional expense is caused to farmers for the keep of their animals in Dublin, and if he will urge on the Railway Company the desirability of making arrangements to take stock at the stations mentioned on Wednesday morning and deliver same in Dublin on same day.

The position as regards railway arrangements at Carlow and Athy is as stated. The Department had already been in communication with the Company as to the provision of conveyance for live stock on Wednesdays from Athy and Carlow to the Dublin market and they understand that the matter is being fully considered.
