Vol. 14 No. 13

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - KILDARE UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE CLAIM.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware that Stephen Caffrey. Brownstown, Curragh Camp, Serial No. 2065, has been refused unemployment insurance benefit on the ground that he holds two acres of land; that most of this land consists of a disused exhausted gravel pit, and, also, that he has a wife and seven children from two to thirteen years of age, dependent on him, and whether he will, in view of these facts, reconsider the case.

A claim made by Stephen Caffrey, of Brownstown, Curragh Camp, on the 1st January, 1926, was disallowed by the Insurance Officer on the grounds that the claimant was not unemployed and not unable to obtain suitable employment. Mr. Caffrey appealed from this decision to the Court of Referees, which, having considered the case, recommended on the 24th instant that benefit be allowed. This recommendation the Insurance Officer has accepted, and accordingly any benefit due on the claim will be paid.
