Vol. 15 No. 1

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - LAND DISTRIBUTION IN TIPPERARY.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture if he will state on what grounds the application of Mrs. Julia Cooney, of Clonmaine, Donaskeigh, for an allotment of land on the Scully estate near Donaskeigh was not granted; if he is aware that Mrs. Cooney is a near representative of a tenant who was evicted from this property; that Mrs. Cooney has two sons who are competent to work the land if they received a grant of land and that they are in a position to provide the capital required, and whether he will see that Mrs. Cooney's application receives careful consideration when other lands in the county are being divided.

Mr. HOGAN

I wrote to the Deputy. Does the Deputy wish me to read the reply to the question?

I already had an answer by letter, but that answer does not cover the last point, and I think I had better have the answer to my question.

Mr. HOGAN

The Commissioners considered the application of Mrs. Julia Cooney, who claimed as the representative of a tenant evicted from the Scully estate, and in the exercise of the discretion vested in them decided that it was not a case in which they would take any action.

I think the letter went on to say that the eviction took place sixty-seven years ago.

Will the Minister say that Mrs. Cooney's application will have consideration when any other lands are being divided?

Mr. HOGAN

Yes.
