Vol. 15 No. 9

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - REGISTRAR-GENERAL'S DEPARTMENT.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether there has been any reduction in the staff of the Registrar-General, and, if not, whether he can explain the unusual delay in making payments to the Registrars of Marriages for the half-yearly rents due since the 31st March, 1926.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. The payments referred to by the Deputy are usually made in the middle of the month of April in each year. This year, owing to a considerable increase in the work of the General Register Office, the payments cannot be made earlier than about the middle of the current month.
