Vol. 15 No. 11

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - MILITARY SERVICE PENSION CLAIM (ATHLONE).

SEAN O LAIDHIN

asked the Minister for Defence if he can state why a military service pension has not yet been granted to ex-Volunteer Joseph Cunningham (No. 21718, D. Company, 8th Battalion, Curragh Camp), whose present address is High Street, Athlone, Co. Westmeath, and if he is aware that military service pension forms in connection with his claim were forwarded by Mr. Cunningham five months ago, and if he will now expedite payment of pension.

Mr. Cunningham's application under the Military Service Pensions Act, 1924, was duly received and referred to the Board of Assessors constituted under the Act. The Board have not yet reported to me in the case.

Would the Minister take steps to see that the case of this man is expedited and that he will be given a decided answer?

This man applied only some time in December of last year, which was nine months after the ordinary time that he should have applied. There were 20,000 cases before his so that he has not much to complain of. Somebody must be last in this business as well as in everything else.
