asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture if he will state (a) the number of holding (untenanted) inspected for the purposes of sub-division under the Land Act, 1923, in County Cavan, (b) the owners of these holdings and the townland in which these are situate; also, the holdings inspected which it is not proposed to acquire and the holdings for which offers have been made or for which negotiations are in progress.

Mr. HOGAN
Under the Land Act of 1923, the Land Commission have purchased, or are arranging to purchase, for purposes of division an area of 2,624 acres of untenanted land in County Cavan, situate on 21 estates, and, in addition, are making inquiries as regards a further area of some 12,750 acres in that county, situate on 72 estates, of which 4,700 acres have already been inspected. The names of the owners of the individual estates comprising the above-mentioned area of 2,624 acres are shown on the annexed schedule.
