CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - ACQUISITION AND DIVISION OF KILDARE LANDS.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture if he will state when the Land Commission will be in a position to divide the lands of Knockaulin, Usk, Milltown, Grangebeg, Mooretown, Carrighill, and Blackhall, in the Ballyshannon-Kilcullen area, Co. Kildare, amongst the list of congest-applicants whose names were sent in to the Land Commission on the 20th March, 1925.

The position as regards the lands referred to is as follows:—

1. Lands of Knockaulin. These lands comprise tenanted land in the occupation of Mrs. Bridget Togher, as representative of Michael Waters, deceased, on the Cornwall Estate, and will be dealt with when the Land Commission are dealing with the estate under the Land Act, 1923.

2. Lands of Usk in the Estate of James Dixon. The Commissioners are having a further inspection made of these lands.

3. Lands of Miltown. These lands do not appear to be pending for sale under the Land Purchase Acts.

4. Lands of Grangebeg in the Estate of George Grange. These lands have been inspected and the Commissioners have decided to take no further action.

5. Lands of Mooretown in Estate of Colonel Purdon Winter. These lands have been vested in the Land Commission and have been divided and the allottees placed in possession.

6. Lands of Carrighill Lower in the Estate of T. W. Price. The lands have been inspected and the Commissioners have decided to take no action.

7. Lands of Blackhall in the Estate of William Ashe. The Commissioners are having these lands inspected.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture if the owner's objection to the acquisition of the lands of the Morristown-Billar, Taylor Estate, Co. Kildare, by the Land Commission, has yet been disposed of, and whether he will expedite its division amongst the numerous congests in the locality.

Mr. HOGAN

The owner's objection to the acquisition of the lands of Morristown-Billar, on the Taylor Estate, has recently been heard by the Land Commission, who have reserved judgment.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture if he will state what progress has been made by the Land Commission in acquiring the following untenanted lands near Newbridge, Co. Kildare, held by Mr. Patrick Bobbett, consisting of one hundred and eighty-two acres, in the townland of Kilbelan, electoral division of Morristown-Billar; eighty-one acres in the townland of Kilbelan (township of Newbridge), electoral division of Newbridge Urban; and forty-eight acres in the townland of Great Connell, electoral division of Newbridge Urban, for the relief of congestion, and whether he will expedite the acquisition and division of these lands; further, whether he will give instructions to the Lands Commission when dividing these lands to allot forty or fifty acres near the town as a cowpark for the residents of Newbridge, and, also, provide a suitable football ground for the County Kildare Gaelic Athletic Association.

Mr. HOGAN

The lands of Great Connell are purchased lands, subject to a Land Purchase Annuity.

The lands of Kilbelan are being inspected with a view to their acquisition.

When lands within a reasonable distance of towns are acquired, the question of providing cow-parks for the inhabitants is considered by the Commissioners.

What about the providing of the football ground for the Kildare Athletic Association; has that been considered?

Mr. HOGAN

Yes.
