Vol. 16 No. 1

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - BANDON WATER SUPPLY.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether the attention of his Department has been called to the very serious and alarming reports made to the Cork County Board of Health recently on the Bandon Water Supply by the Medical Officer of Health for that town, and whether the Minister will arrange to take up this question by having a report furnished through a Medical Inspector of the Department immediately.

The Medical Officer of Health, in his half-yearly report for the period to the 31st of March last, described portion of the water supply of Bandon as liable to pollution, and the attention of the Sanitary Authority has been drawn to the matter. There is no indication that the Sanitary Authority are not in a position to undertake any necessary remedial measures, or that special intervention on the part of my Department is called for.

Mr. MURPHY

Is the Minister aware that the medical officer presented such an alarming report that it was the subject of comment all over the county? Is he quite sure that it is not such a small matter as it is treated in the answer?

In the absence of any further information I cannot go any further.

Mr. MURPHY

I will undertake to provide the information.
