Vol. 16 No. 6

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE BENEFIT.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the reasons for the refusal to pay unemployment insurance benefit at Kildare Branch Office, Labour Exchange, to Peter Pringle, malt-house worker, Rathangan, Co. Kildare, who had been employed as such for the last six years; whether benefit was refused after twenty-two days' payment, and if Mr. Pringle will be allowed to make a second claim.

Peter Pringle, Mullentine, Rathangan, lodged a claim for Unemployment Benefit at Kildare Branch Employment Office on October 15th, 1925, and received payment thereon of six days' benefit in respect of the balance of six contributions which were then to his credit with the Unemployment Fund.

He made a further claim on 16th April, 1926, lodging his Unemployment Book, which contained 22 contributions, affixed in respect of employment between November, 1925, and April, 1926, and on this further claim he has been paid 22 days' benefit, thus exhausting the contributions to the credit of his account with the Unemployment Insurance Fund. Accordingly, no further benefit can be paid to Mr. Pringle until further contributions have been paid on his behalf.

In all, 166 contributions have been paid into the Unemployment Insurance Fund on Mr. Pringle's account, and he has drawn altogether 454 days' benefit.
