Vol. 16 No. 10

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - LERR DRAINAGE SCHEME.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he has received a copy of a resolution from the Rickettstown Branch of Cumann na nGaedheal passed at their meeting on the 4th June, 1926, stating that the lands of the townlands of Maplestown and Rahill are subject to much damage by periodic flooding, and requesting the Minister for Finance to instruct the Commissioners of Public Works to carry out such further works in connection with the Lerr Drainage Scheme, South Kildare, as they may consider necessary for the proper and effective drainage of these townlands, and whether he will ask the Commissioners to inspect and report thereon.

A copy of the resolution passed by the Rickettstown Branch of the Cumann na nGaedheal on the 4th instant, relative to the carrying out of additional drainage works in the townlands of Maplestown and Rahill in connection with the restoration works at present in progress in the River Lerr Drainage District, was received by the Commissioners of Public Works on the 7th instant. Only about 16 perches of the river in question, where it forms the boundary of the townland of Maplestown, is included in the River Lerr Drainage District. This portion of the river will be restored, but it is not proposed to do any work outside the District.
