Vol. 16 No. 13

PUBLIC BUSINESS. - JURIES (DUBLIN) BILL, 1926—FIRST STAGE.

I told the Dáil on several occasions, I think, that it was intended to relieve the burden cast upon jurors of the City of Dublin within the last few years. My intention was that a section giving that relief would form part of a comprehensive measure amending generally the law as to jurors. But owing to pressure of legislation it has not been found possible to introduce a measure of that kind before the end of the present session. I was anxious that the Dublin jurors should be relieved at as early a date as possible. Accordingly, I am introducing this Bill. The larger measure will probably be taken up in the Autumn Session.

Leave granted.
Second Stage fixed for Tuesday, the 22nd June.
