Vol. 16 No. 15

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - APPOINTMENT OF POSTMEN (DUBLIN).

asked the Minister for Finance whether any representations have been made to him by the Department of Posts and Telegraphs regarding the appointment of temporary postmen in Dublin to the rank of postmen, Grade "A"; whether he has considered the representations, and, if so, with what result.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he has received any representations from the Department of Posts and Telegraphs regarding the appointment of Grade "B" postmen in Dublin to the rank of Grade "A" postmen; whether he has considered the representations, and, if so, with what result.

It will, I think, be more convenient to deal with both questions in the one answer. I take it the Deputy refers to certain men who were formerly temporary sorting clerks and telegraphists in Dublin, and who are now discharging duties proper to postmen under the recent reorganisation scheme. Proposals for the establishment of certain of these officers are at present under consideration, and it is hoped that a decision will be announced at an early date.

Is that reply intended to cover the second question? The Minister was dealing with only one class in his reply.

It is intended to cover both classes.
