Vol. 18 No. 6

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - LOCAL AUTHORITIES AND HOUSING SCHEMES.

asked the Minister for Finance whether it is the intention of the Government to make money available to local authorities on long term loans for the purpose of enabling such bodies to provide houses for the working class, and, if so, whether he will state, approximately, when the money will be available.

The Government has had under consideration the question of granting long term loans to local authorities for the purpose of enabling them to provide houses for the working class, but it has been decided that no steps can be taken until after the raising of the next public loan.

Can the Minister give any indication as to when that will be?

Immediately after the people at the General Election have renewed their confidence in the present Government.

When will that be?
