CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - ORDNANCE SURVEY INQUIRY.

asked the Minister for Finance when the Ordnance Survey Departmental Committee of Inquiry will resume its sittings to investigate the matters which he informed the Dáil were held over for special inquiry; is the Minister aware that Captain McNamara who was to be a witness in regard to the deferred matters, has since the issue of the Committee's first report been dismissed from the small post which he held in the Civil Service.

The inquiries by the Technical Experts on the Ordnance Survey Committee into the matters which were held over for special investigation have been and are still proceeding. I am informed that it would not be necessary for the Committee, for the purposes of their further inquiries to have any evidence from the person named in the question.

Is it true that Captain McNamara has been dismissed and if so what is the reason of the dismissal?

He was dismissed because he was not regarded as a person suitable for retention in the service.
