asked the Minister for Defence whether it is intended to discharge a number of men employed on barrack service on the Curragh Camp, and, if so, whether in view of the prevailing unemployment in the area, he will reconsider the matter.
CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - CIVILIAN EMPLOYEES AT CURRAGH CAMP.
A question of discharging a number of men employed on barrack services at the Curragh Camp is under consideration. I will give due weight to the Deputy's representation in the matter.
I ask the Minister to deal favourably with these men and not reduce the staff until there is an indication of a return to somewhat normal conditions. The question of obtaining employment at present in the area is hopeless, and I think it would be unwise to discharge these men just now.
