Vol. 19 No. 2

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - MEATH LANDS.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture whether the Land Commission propose acquiring the lands of Anneville, Ballivor, Co. Meath, containing 160 acres and owned by Mr. J.H. Langan, Hill-of-Down, and, if so, whether he will state when same may be acquired.

The lands referred to comprise the holding of 176a. 1r. 1p., situate in the townland of Anneville or Clonard Old, which is held by Mr. John Langan as judicial tenant on the estate of W.E.G. Hewson, County Meath. Particulars have been lodged to enable the estate to be vested in the Land Commission on the appointed day under the Land Act, 1923, and when it is being dealt with by the Commissioners inquiries will be made as to the lands referred to. Having regard to the large number of other estates, of which the particulars were lodged at an earlier date, it is not possible at present to state when this estate may be dealt with in its order.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture whether that portion of the lands of Elmgrove, Brown Estate, Ballivor, Meath, attached to the residence on that estate, is allotted, and whether the present occupant of this portion of the estate is a tenant of the Land Commission or has only the lands taken on the eleven months' system from the Land Commission.

The lands referred to are being allotted to a migrant from the West, and he is at present in temporary occupation pending the completion of the migration.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture whether Carranstown Bog, Gannon Estate, Ballivor, County Meath, has been acquired by the Land Commission, and, if not, whether the Land Commission propose to acquire same for allotment among local people.

The Carranstown Bog referred to is being acquired by the Land Commission.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture whether he will state what are the intentions of the Land Commission in relation to the Robinstown Bog on the Brown Estate, County Meath, and whether it is proposed to allot same this season to those who made application last June.

No proceedings have been instituted for the sale of the Robinstown Bog under the Land Act, 1923, and no applications for allotments on this bog stated to have been made in June last can be traced in the Land Commission.

Arising out of the Minister's reply, I suggest to him that there should be further investigations with reference to these applications.

I do not think that any further inquiry is going to result in anything favourable to the Deputy seeing that the answer is that "No applications for allotments on this bog stated to have been made in June last can be traced in the Land Commission."

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture if he can now state what is the cause of the delay in dealing with the lands of Princetown, Ardeath, County Meath, and if it is the intention of the Land Commission to acquire these lands for distribution, and if he will have the acquisition and division of same expedited.

The acquisition of the lands of Princetown referred to is under consideration by the Land Commission.
