CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - ACQUISITION OF CO. KILDARE LANDS.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture what progress has been made, since the 11th May, 1927, by the Land Commission in the acquisition of the lands of Kilbelan, near Newbridge, County Kildare, containing about 173 acres, held by Mr. Patrick Bobbett, for division amongst the local congests whose names have been furnished to the Department.

The Land Commission have the question of the compulsory acquisition of these lands under consideration.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture what progress has been made since the 28th April, 1927, by the Land Commission in the acquisition of one hundred and seventy-one acres of untenanted lands held by Mr. James Lyons in the townland of Castlesize, electoral division of Bodenstown, Co. Kildare, for the relief of the congest-applicants in the district, a partial list of whom (49 in number) has been furnished to the Department.

An inspector has been directed to report as to the suitability of the lands of Castlesize containing 171a. 9r. 29p. for acquisition under the Land Act, 1923.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture what progress has been made since the 30th March, 1926, by the Land Commission in the acquisition of the lands in the townlands of Pluckerstown, Kilmoney, Feighcullen, Keelogues, Cannonstown, Bonaghmore, Boston, Cloncumber, Tullylost, and Boherkill, in the Rathangan-Allen area, Co. Kildare, a list of which was forwarded to the Department on the 1st April. 1925, and whether he will explain the reasons for the delay in acquiring those lands.

Inquiries have been made as to the occupiers of lands in the townlands mentioned and it has been found that practically all the lands are held subject to land purchase annuities. Proceedings are at present in course for the purchase of portion of the lands of Feighcullen and Kilmoney on the Gishford Estate.
